Reading Giraffe
​Where books run wild!

Reading Giraffe is a literacy initiative that was founded when I only dreamed of becoming a children's book author. It is based on the power of picture books, and we focus on young readers from ages 3 through 10. Reading aloud is the foundation of our program, as it’s widely considered the single most important activity leading to literacy acquisition. And by making books interactive, fun and ACTIVE adventures, our goal is to produce lifelong readers who keep searching for that next magical story!

​We have a variety of literacy offerings that encompass these philosophies. Click on each link to learn more.

• Weekly Classes – Our curriculum is based on over 100 of the most creative, fun, engaging picture books available today.
• Camps – Camp is the perfect time to mix reading and adventure. So we run week-long, half-day camps that allow children to maintain their reading habits while also making sure they have plenty of fun!
• Book Treks – Book Treks get students outdoors and active while reading. We pick one of Alphie’s favorite books and stake its pages along a path, give the kids their Book Trek Map, and head outside to run, jump, spin, fly, and laugh our way through a story.
• Storytelling Adventures – We come into your classroom and host fun, interactive storytelling sessions that get the students excited about reading!

The kids’ favorite Reading Giraffe, Alphie, joins us for each event. And just where do five-foot-tall giraffes read?  Anywhere they want!
